Thank you to all those Old Boys, Parents and Wynberg friends who have supported the Bill Bowden this year.

SQUASH
Membership of the Old Boys' Squash Club is increasing steadily. Since September of last year, we have welcomed over 30 new members. Although we are only fielding two Old Boys' League teams this season, we hope to enter a third in the future. Both Bill Bowden courts were painted during the December holidays.

Thanks to the members for their patience and to Jeremy Petersen and his crew for the hard work.

Jeff Sternslow, Old Boys' Committee Member, has been the undeniable force behind Squash at Wynberg for many years. His input and enthusiasm are invaluable, as is his encouragement of both oldies and youngsters alike.

PRIVATE PARTIES
Private parties are an important source of income for the Bill Bowden. The standard hiring fee for a party is R2 500. This includes staff, crockery and cutlery. As the BBP is only hired out on a Saturday night, bookings need to be made far in advance. Phone Glenda if you wish to celebrate a birthday or an important family event here.

MATRIC RESULTS
The Old Boys were honoured to invite all "new" Old Boys of 2010 to celebrate the announcement of their matric results at the Bill Bowden. Parents who had spent the previous month biting nails in anticipation were treated to champagne. The ex schoolboys were also generously accommodated. Congratulations to all of you on your excellent results and to Wynberg and the dedicated staff on the 100% pass rate.

HOUSE BRAAIS
During the first term, all eight houses held their annual house braais at the Bill Bowden. This is an opportunity for new Grade 8 parents and sons to interact with the old stalwarts - Grade 12 parents and sons, and every grade in between. House Prefects and House Masters organise these functions which contribute to the friendly ethos of Wynberg. Wynberg Old Boys are proud to play a role in these relaxed get togethers.

TOURING TEAMS
Many sports teams from overseas try to include Wynberg in their itinerary and we host many groups every year. Part of the Wynberg experience for the coaches and managers is the after match atmosphere at the Bill Bowden. Wiltshire and Wellington (U.K.) had a most enjoyable time here and will take home happy memories of Wynberg.

OPEN MIKE EVENINGS
Two of the popular Open Mike evenings have been held in the last two months - Scott Gibbs in February and Allan Lamb (a Wynberg Old Boy) in March. These question and answer sessions never fail to entertain.

Many of you who attend these evenings may not be aware that these sports celebrities do not charge us a cent for their time. Thanks to both Scott and Allan for great evenings, to The Really Great Brand Company for their generous sponsorship and to Paul Barichievy for his never ending supply of speakers. NIGHT OF THE STARS
The Night of the Stars was held on Friday 4th March. This is one of the school's annual fundraising events- a music /fete / food fair / entertainment / fun evening. Thanks to those who attended and particularly to those who dropped in at the Bill Bowden. Owing to the strain on the electricity supply, much of the evening at the BBP was spent in semi-darkness. Thanks to those people who had a sense of humour and supported our efforts on the Night of the Tealight Candles.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT NO PRIVATE EVENT IS EVER HELD AT THE BILL BOWDEN ON WEEKNIGHTS.
